Peer Review Process
Plant Pathology & Quarantine Journal accepts manuscripts written in English and prepared according to the journal template available under the submission guidelines. Submissions that do not follow the required formatting will be rejected without review.
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial pre-screening before being considered for a single-blind peer review by at least two independent external reviewers. The review process proceeds as follows:

Upon submission, the Managing Editor conducts a preliminary assessment to ensure that the manuscript complies with the journal’s formatting requirements and does not exceed 20% similarity (plagiarism threshold). Manuscripts that fail to meet these criteria are rejected at this stage.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief for a secondary evaluation. At this stage, the Editor-in-Chief assesses whether the manuscript aligns with the aims and scope of Plant Pathology & Quarantine Journal, and evaluates its originality, novelty, and scientific significance. If the manuscript does not meet these standards, it may be rejected without external review. Otherwise, it is assigned to a Handling Editor, who appoints at least two independent reviewers.
The Handling Editor sends the manuscript to the selected reviewers and collects their evaluations. The peer review process typically takes approximately four months. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the Handling Editor’s assessment, a recommendation is forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief, who makes the final decision.
The possible editorial decisions are:
Accept – The manuscript is accepted without requiring further revisions.
Minor Revision – The manuscript is conditionally accepted pending minor revisions. Authors are given two weeks to submit a revised version. The Handling Editor evaluates the revised manuscript and the authors’ responses to reviewer comments. If satisfactory, a recommendation for acceptance is sent to the Editor-in-Chief for final approval.
Major Revision – Substantial revisions are required. Authors are given 4–6 weeks to resubmit the revised manuscript. The revised version is typically returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation. This review cycle may continue until the reviewers are satisfied that their comments have been adequately addressed. The Handling Editor then makes a recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief for final approval.
Reject – The manuscript may be rejected during the preliminary screening, secondary editorial evaluation, or following peer review based on reviewers’ recommendations.
The final decision of the Editor-in-Chief is communicated to the corresponding author.
Accepted manuscripts are forwarded to the Managing Editor for copyright processing, artwork preparation, and proof production. The proofs are sent to the authors for review, and authors are given one week to return corrected proofs. After final approval by the Editor-in-Chief, the article is published on the journal website, and the authors are notified accordingly.
